Bella, I agree the sound was a little touchy during the performance. The thing is sound quality is specific to the location in which you are located during the performance. When I was dead center up at the front, the sound was crisp and the vocals were clear. If I moved backwards the vocals got muddy and faded into the instrumentals. The Wailers were mixed by the house, where as 311 mixed there own sound. The house always knows the venue better, this is the reason for the variation. But it was a killer show, I will deffinitely be seeing them again.

I don't disagree with anything you said BUT I'm surprised that none of the reviews I've seen have mentioned the horrible sound. I saw 311 in Seattle in June and the sound was AMAZING, I'd never seen them before and was not familiar with their more recent music but they TOTALLY won me over. Great vocals, positive lyrics, catchy melodies.

This time I couldn't hear most of the lyrics because the bass levels were cranked so high that even the instruments sounded distorted.

Sorry, but I'd fire the soundguys. How is it possible that The Wailers had such great sound and 311 got the shaft? The Wailers sounded perfectly balanced with all the levels set optimally.

As a singer I guess I expect better, it definitely took a lot of the enjoyment out of it for me. The show and the energy were awesome though, despite the horrific sound.
